Celebrating 100years young
Honorary Duckmaster at The Peabody
Mayor Strickland named the day after her, and the Peabody Duckmaster presented the proclamation. Then Opal led the ducks.
A small word with a big heart
glass·able
A toddler’s word for transparent glass objects that are fragile enough to break.
Big days are like that. A 100th birthday, a first baby, a surprise for someone who never lets anyone fuss over them. They happen once, so I plan them clearly and carefully, and I keep you in the loop on every detail.
Celebrations the city joined
I look for the partner who loves your guest of honor as much as you do: their bookstore, their favorite game, the hotel ducks. Then the party gives something back.
Four birthdays for Memphian Opal Hill, reader, Scrabble lover, and loyal customer of Novel bookstore.
Celebrating 100years young
Mayor Strickland named the day after her, and the Peabody Duckmaster presented the proclamation. Then Opal led the ducks.
Celebrating 103years young
Novel set a goal of 103 children’s books for Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. Memphis donated more than 200.
Celebrating 104years young
A flower crown with a matching corsage, a hand-painted rose cake, and a lace parasol for portraits in the hydrangeas.
Celebrating 105years young
Hasbro gave Opal a special-edition Scrabble board and donated 105 board games to Literacy Mid-South for more than 20 Memphis schools.

80th birthday
Buddy Hughes is a retired Memphis firefighter. For his 80th, Mayor Strickland sent an official letter thanking him for his years of service, presented in person by a local firefighter.
The party itself was a classic since 1942: vintage cars, buffalo check, Coke-bottle favors tagged “aged to perfection,” a family slideshow, and a cake with every last candle.

Book launch · Beacon, NY · June 2025
For the launch of my children’s book Pink Unicorn’s Magical Day, inspired by David Shelly, Beacon’s beloved Pink Unicorn, I produced a community celebration with a live reading, a flower bar, kindness kits and children’s activities.
All book proceeds support the Beacon Unicorn Fund, which helps locals in need. Today every graduating kindergartner in Beacon’s public schools gets a copy.
More celebrations
A quilter gets her party at the sewing studio. A Tigers fan gets a visit from TOM. Here are a few more.

Surprise 60th birthday
She’s a quilter, so the surprise went to her favorite sewing studio, with a quilt-shaped cake and a backdrop in her go-to blues and greens.
Every guest made and signed a heart block, so she went home with a quilt from everyone who loves her.

Tropical baby shower
A poolside shower with a surfboard theme: branded coconut drinks, custom “Beach Baby” cookies, and a popsicle cart for the August heat.
Guests signed a wooden surfboard instead of a guestbook, so the family got a keepsake for the nursery.

Memphis Tigers 60th birthday
Dean is a Memphis Tigers fan through and through, so his 60th went all in on game day: a balloon wall in blue, white and silver with footballs and tiger foils, pom-pom centerpieces, and the whole room in Tigers gear.
Then came the surprise. TOM the Tiger and the Tigers spirit squad showed up to celebrate with him.
Guests went home with custom Oreos and local coffee, two of his favorites.

What I plan
Life’s big occasions
Birthdays, baby showers, and family celebrations, planned around the people you love.
My specialty
I connect your celebration with the people and places your guest of honor loves, so the day does some good and gets noticed.
Planning it yourself
One conversation to shape your idea, check your plan, and find the partner or detail that makes it memorable.
How it works
We start with the guest of honor: what they love, who they love, and what would make them light up.
I build the plan, book the vendors, and reach out to any partners, from a local bookstore to a national brand.
I run the day so you can be in the photos, not behind the camera.

Meet your planner
I’m Nicole Hughes, a Memphian now living in Beacon, New York. I’m a producer and playwright, and I founded Glassable to take the same care with life’s big moments that I take with a show.
Every party I plan starts with the same question: what would make this person feel celebrated?
